Anthony Hipps
Anthony Hipps - Lexington, NC - Anthony is a full time Regulatory Scientist with Syngenta Crop Protection in Greensboro, NC. In his spare time
he is a professional speaker, tier and tying instructor. He has served as the Federation of Fly Fishers-Southeastern Council Conclave Fly Tying
Co-Chair 2004-2006. He has also served on the FFF- Southeastern Council Board of Directors and tied flies at the FFF-SEC and FFF-Southern Council
conclaves, Bass Saltwater Expos, Charlotte Fly fishing show, and various fishing clubs and fly shops since 1992.
Anthony's home club is the Nat Greene Fly Fishers, Greensboro, NC where he has served served as president, vice president, programs chairman,
publicity chairman and Board member from 1996-2004.
Anthony has been nationally recognized for his spun deer-hair bass flies, smallmouth bass nymphs, saltwater streamers and especially his unique
soft-bodied foam poppers. In 2004 he was a featured bonefish fly tier on the Outdoor Life Network's Fly Fish TV Magazine. Fly Tyer Magazine
published Anthony's article on tying his unique soft-bodied popper in the summer 2006 issue, Hipps's HellCraw in the Spring 2007 issue and will be
publishing two more of Anthony's tying articles in the coming year.
At this years FFF-SEC Conclave, June 8-9, Callaway Gardens, Pine Mountain, Georgia, Anthony will be teaching a 2 morning workshop on tying and
painting his soft-bodied poppers and sliders. Anthony's fishing passion is fly fishing for bream, crappies and bass (especially smallmouth bass)
on lakes, ponds, creeks and rivers. He also enjoys saltwater fly fishing for anything that will bite with his favorites being redfish and stripers.
At the CFFC meeting Anthony will be demonstrating how to tie his unique and easy soft bodied flies in both freshwater and saltwater models.
