Mitchell River, Surry County, NC

The Mitchell River is upstream from Kapps Mill dam. The Mitchell has plenty of nice runs and deep holes holding stocked and holdover rainbows and browns mostly in the 9"- 15" range. The stream has good wade access; so, anglers regularly net good numbers of nice trout in the Mitchell. The Mitchell is designated Delayed Harvest and fishes well March, April, May, October, November and December. The river is close by scenic wine making country surrounding Dobson, North Carolina home to Shelton Vineyards.
Directions from Charlotte to 365 Grover Cockerham Road, Dobson, NC 27017
From Charlotte go north on I-77.At Exit 93 take ramp right toward Dobson.At the end of the ramp turn left onto Zephyr Rd.Go 1.6 miles, turn right onto Kapps Mill Rd.Go 1.8 miles, turn right onto River Rd.Go 1.2 miles, turn right onto Grover Cockerham Rd. (gravel road)Go .7 miles to the end of the gravel road. There is a gate and parking lot on the left.
We will meet up there at 9:00 am for people who have not fished here before and also for lunch at 12:00 noon.
Club Outings: Due to CFFC liabilities anyone attending a club outing must be up to date with their CFFC and FFI memberships.
