Stone Mountain State Park Delayed Harvest Trip
Saturday, March 10, 2018 @ 9:00 am

Club members are encouraged to join in on a DH fly fishing day trip to Stone Mountain State Park to fish the Stone Mountain Creek and East Prong of Roaring River.

We will meet up at Garden Creek Baptist Church at 9:00 AM for any anglers that would like to partner up with someone or could use some help getting started. You can also fish for wild Brookies on Garden Creek, Bullhead Creek or Widows Creek.

LUNCH: Be sure to pack a lunch and we can meet up back at the Church at 12:00 noon for good fellowship and telling about those big fish that we just didn’t get a picture of.

SOME BASIC EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS:
Rod:
Suggested length of 8’ to 10’ works well with 3 to 6 wt line.  Leader to match rod length in 3X to 5X.  Shorter leaders make casting weighted flies a little easier.  If desired, you can always add more tippet to lengthen leader.

Flies:
DH Flies- Typically start unweighted, if no action, add weight (split shot) 6"-10" above fly to get flies down where the fish are.

Natural flies- Fish dry flies mid to late afternoon or if you see a hatch coming off.  Size is not cast in concrete, so experiment with fly size and pattern.
