North Carolina Mountain Heritage Trout Water
This Delayed Harvest stream is scheduled to  be stocked Thursday, April 5th.  Come and experience one of the finest trout fishing destinations in North Carolina. Big Horse Creek has the distinguished honor of being the only fishery that has all four North Carolina Wildlife designations: Delayed Harvest, Hatchery Supported, Wild Trout and Catch and Release. It is full of trout, stocked 5 months every year!

Please bring your own lunch, beverages, etc.  We will meet at the Meet-up place at 12:00 noon.

Lead Contact:
Todd Basinger and Jack Costa will be there to give a helping hand with getting started and on the water.  You can email Todd or Jack with any questions or concerns by clicking their name above.

Suggested length of 8’ to 10’ works well with 3 to 6 wt line.  Leader to match rod length in 3X to 5X.  Shorter leaders make casting weighted flies a little easier.  If desired, you can always add more tippet to lengthen leader.

DH Flies- Typically start unweighted, if no action, add weight (split shot) 6"-10" above fly to get flies down to where the fish are.

Natural flies- Fish dry flies mid to late afternoon or if you see a hatch coming off.  Size is not cast in concrete, so experiment with fly size and pattern.
