Mitchell River, Surry County, NC
Saturday, October 6, 2018

DH Stocking is scheduled for Monday, October 1, 2018

The Mitchell River is upstream from Kapps Mill dam. The Mitchell has plenty of nice runs and deep holes holding stocked and holdover rainbows and browns mostly in the 9"- 15" range. The stream has good wade access; so, anglers regularly net good numbers of nice trout in the Mitchell. The Mitchell is designated Delayed Harvest and fishes well March, April, May, October, November and December.  The river is close by scenic wine making country surrounding Dobson, North Carolina home to Shelton Vineyards.

Meetup Time: 8:30 am.  See below for meetup parking area.

Suggested length of 8’ to 10’ works well with 3 to 6 wt line.  Leader to match rod length in 3X to 5X.  Shorter leaders make casting weighted flies a little easier.  If desired, you can always add more tippet to lengthen leader.
