We will be fishing for striped bass and trout. Trout range from 10 inches to 25 inches. Streamers, nymphs and wet flies are the most effective flies 14 to 16 are common. Striped bass in the ten pound range are common. Streamers and nymphs are the best bets. They eat 14 inch trout. Depending on water conditions the river may be best fished with a john boat, kayak or canoe. Wading is possible but a boat is recommended.

A fourteen day South Carolina nonresident fishing license is $11 and a yearly license is $35. Either can be purchased on line at the SC DNR page.

Kayaks or canoes are available for rent from the park. Prices are $38 for three hours or $48 for the day. Private boats are permitted.

This is a great location to bring your non-fishing family. The park has a playground, water park and hiking.
