Patrick Weaver Fly Tying Demo and Tie Along

We are excited about adding a new education feature to our 2020 Picnic agenda.  Patrick Weaver, from the NC Wildlife Resource Commission, will be presenting a Fly Tying Demo on how to tie flies that he discussed in his presentation, "Entomology for Anglers--A Practical Guide to Insects and Fly Patterns", tailored specifically to North Carolina Trout Waters.

Attendees to this session will be able to tie along with Patrick as he presents each pattern.  Attendees should be experienced tiers.  THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS HOW TO CLASS.  Fly materials will be provided.  Attendees should bring their own vise and tools as well as 6/0 yellow and 6/0 light brown or tan tying thread.  Also, bring your own dry fly hooks in size 14 or 16.

The session will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.  We will have a maximum of 15 attendees.  Registration is separate from the picnic registration and is $5.00 per person.  The class will be in a Visitors Center Class Room.

Patrick has presented to our club and to the local TU club.  TU recorded his session and you can view a very professional video of his presentation on Vimeo.com; search for "Entomology for Anglers" and enjoy.

Sign up is first come, first registerad until the maximum of 15 is reached.  Sign up quickly as this session is expected to fill up fast!

Fishing is not only allowed but encouraged! Anglers may bring their own watercraft or rent kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes at the visitor center on Park Lake. We do not discriminate -fly fishing or spinning rigs may be used in accordance with regulations of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.

More information will be added as it comes in.
