    Helton Creek DH mid-week Outing
    Tuesday, November 7, 2017

Please register if you plan to attend!
Lead person will be assigned soon.

The stream stocking is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1, 2017

Helton Creek, nestled in the hills of Ashe County, is a jewel of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources delayed-harvest trout program. "A total of 26,600 catchable size trout are stocked in the delayed-harvest section of Helton Creek each year,” said Doug Besler, WRC regional research coordinator. “Approximately 3,750 catchable trout are stocked in October, November, March, April and May.” That’s a lot of trout.

Helton Creek is stocked from the Virginia border to the junction with the New River.  One advantage of Helton Creek during the delayed-harvest period is that it’s one of the longest stretches of delayed-harvest stream around, 8 Miles.  There could be lots of folks fishing and an angler still doesn’t need to feel crowded.  Look around a little and you can find your own stretch to fish.  There are plenty of runs, pocket water and pools to fish.

Here is a great link to information on Helton Creek by the Carolina Sportsman.

We will meet up at 9:00 AM at the Helton Creek Campground.

It's only $15.00 for a tent site at the campground for those that might want to go up the night before.

    Spruce Pines NC

Nestled in the mountains is one of the jewels of North Carolina trout fishing, the North Toe River, and one of the shiniest baubles as the section that flows through the town of Spruce Pine. Access is outstanding; you can park on a paved lot, and there are lots of trout.

A section of slightly more than two miles, from the US 19E Bridge east of town to the NC 226 Bridge north of town is managed by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission as delayed-harvest waters (DH), and is classified as the Spruce Pine Mountain Heritage Trout Water.

The river is heavily stocked — with plenty of big trout which makes for some of the best fishing in the state!

Click HERE for a more detailed location of river in Spruce Pine.

Annual Club Swap Meet, & Garage Sale

The December CFFC meeting will be a casual get together and a swap meet/garage sale.  A good chance to bring some of your stuff that you don't need and be able to sell or swap for other items. In addition the club has some fly tying material, flies, and some good books that will be for sale. We will take cash, checks and credit cards for the club items. Worth the trip for some bargains.

From what I am seeing there should be a lot of good stuff that will be put out. So load up all of your stuff and come on over for an enjoyable evening.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Fly Tying "Lying and Tying" Session

Bass Pro Shop - Concord Mills Mall
In the White River Room (Fly Shop)
    www.facebook.com/bpscharlotte

We will be having a Lying and Tying session at Bass Pro Shop, Concord, NC. This is just a get together, where you can bring your vise and material and just enjoy an evening of fly tying. Of course there is some lying about how big the fish was and of course how my fly is one that catch all of the big fish.

There is no charge or  registration for any of the Lying & Tying Sessions. If you want to just come by and watch and learn, feel free to join us, you are more than welcome. You will have a chance to meet some of the fly tiers and they will be glad to give you advice. If you don't have a vice we can bring a loaner and you will find folks there to help you. If you need a loaner vice please email us at gjones1@ebmarqmail.com

We will start around 5:30 PM and finish around 8:30 PM at the Bass Pro Shop in the White River Fly Shop room in the back of the store.
